Imphal, April 4, 2025: In a significant crackdown on insurgent activities, Manipur Police arrested two underground cadres from separate militant outfits in Imphal East District on April 3, 2025. The operation, conducted by security forces, led to the apprehension of Yendrembam Athoiba Meitei, 24, an active member of the Revolutionary People's Front (RPF)/People's Liberation Army (PLA), from Chingarel Tezpur Mayai Leikai, and Okram Herojit Singh, 31, a member of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) City Meitei, from Phaknung Sangomshang Litan Makhong, both under Lamlai Police Station jurisdiction. The arrests were announced by Manipur Police via a post on X, accompanied by an image of the suspects with security personnel outside the Officer-in-Charge Commandant Imphal East Unit. This operation comes amid heightened tensions in Manipur, where ethnic clashes between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities since May 2023 have fueled a resurgence of insurgent activities in the region.
